“A cousin of mine and my Great Aunt actually went on this trip and it seemed truly magical. They returned with a promotional video that was obviously made by, or for, people who love the planet we were given and realize that we can either kill it or save it. It was also evident that the trip was created for photographers, nature lovers and not to leave out, foodies. I am well grounded in all of these arenas. A feature of the trip that got some, but little mention was the fact that the (I think there was only one at the time of my relative’s trip) boat was a Yard Minesweeper. My father was the Captain of a YMS in the South Pacific and I knew he would get a real charge out of being on the boat, even if most of the areas had most likely been re-outfitted for the craft’s new life. We continually said that we needed to get dad to Sitka, but as so often happens, we waited too long. Dad’s funeral was last Sunday. A lesson to us all, don’t wait, time is not unlimited.
