Monday, May 16: Ready to hike!
Tuesday, May 17th
In Saook Bay, several guests had early morning crab pot pickup and came back with 7 large Dungeness crabs. We experienced rough weather as we motored our way down to Takatz Bay, where it was dry and calm. Guests went on a beautiful group kayak while others toured around wildlife spotting in a skiff. A Yoga class was provided by one of our guests in the salon in the afternoon. We stayed put in Takatz Bay for the night due to weather.
Wednesday, May 18th
Woke up in Takatz Bay and had a leisurely morning before heading out into some weather as we crossed Chatham Strait, towards Security Bay. Ladies managed to do a quick yoga class while underway in large swell. Anchored right at the mouth of Security Bay for skiff fishing and a meadow walk. Evening ended with a beach fire, s’mores and singing near Pt. Walpole. Anchored at Brothers Islands for the night.
Thursday, May 19th
At the Brothers Islands, we had two groups explore two different islands (East and West Brothers), concluding the excursion with a visit to a sea lion haul out. All aboard and steam for Endicott Arm, with opportunities for whale watching along the way. Glacier presentation before dinner, and a view of the Dawes Glacier during cocktail hour.
Friday, May 20th
Early Morning Kayak opportunity at North Dawes, where we anchored for the night. Followed by a skiff tour up through Fords Terror. A quick lunch spot was made for an extra opportunity to Halibut fish at Wood Point, as we exited Endicott Arm. The rest of the afternoon we motored up to Taku Harbor, where we had dinner with the Captain, an underground tour of the boat and a social hour with the crew.
Saturday, May 21st
Underway from Taku Harbor to downtown Juneau early in the morning. Final breakfast on board before disembarkation and fond farewells.
